Take Flight Days

Designed for the elementary students, this aviation field trip to the Vintage Flying Museum is packed with adventure. This half-day program includes touring approximately 20 aircraft including an inside tour of the B-17 Flying Fortress, museum exhibits, engine display room, building of balsa wood airplanes and test flying, physics of flight discussion, presentation by WWII veterans, and an introduction to aviation careers. This field trip was designed in partnership with the FAA. Cost: $4.00 per student.

Academies for Teens

This week-long summer academy explores aviation careers and includes tours aviation related businesses, air traffic control tower, hands-on activities such as building rockets and balsa wood airplanes, resource speakers, hand-outs, mini-ground school and actual hands-on flying in aircraft provided by members, and local volunteers. This partnership program is sponsored by the Vintage Flying Museum, FAA, and the Organization of Black Airline Pilots. Tuition is free!

Education Workshop
Professional Development for Educators
"Lesson Plans That Fly"

A week-long Aerospace Education Workshop for teachers is offered annually in partnership with the Vintage Flying Museum, FAA and Tarrant County College, N.W. Campus, Fort Worth, Texas. Continuing education credit is provided. This workshop includes A curriculum guide listing aviation education resources, materials, hands-on activities, and brochures. Teachers receive a copy of “Lesson Plans That Fly”, (published through a grant received by the Vintage Flying Museum). Tours of the aviation industry and airplane rides are included in this fast-paced workshop.
