We have over 20 aircraft at the
museum in various condition.
This is a FLYING museum so those
that can be restored and flown will
be with the help of volunteers.
Some Fly, Some will Fly, though a few
will never fly again...
B-17G "CHUCKIE"
Chuckie Now Resides at the
Military Aviation Museum
Virginia Beach, VA.
- Built: 1/6/1944
- Length: 74 feet and 4 inches
- Wingspan: 103 feet and 9 inches
- Height: 19 feet and 1 inch
- Engines: 4 - 1,200hp Wright Cyclones
- Status: FLYING - So far in 2006 she flew to Carswell JRB for their open house and Air Show, and Denton, Teaxs for their Air Fair.
Purchased by Dr. W.D. Hospers and named after his wife Chuckie, this rare bomber was the focal point of the museum.
Built in 1944 and acquired in 1979 this bird is painted in the 486th Bomb Group colors.

AT-6D
"Texan"

This American advanced trainer was an important aircraft of World War II. Used by many air forces, the RAF
called it a Harvard.
PT-22
"Recruit"
- Built: 1943
- Length: 22 feet 7 inches
- Wingspan: 30 feet 1 inch
- Engine: 160hp Kinner R-540
- Max Speed: 100mph
- Status: Engine off being overhauled (Should be flying in the late fall!)
This aircraft taught many pilots how to fly during WWII.
Aeronca L-3B
"GRASSHOPPER"

- Wingspan: 35 feet
- Engine: 65hp Continental
- Max Speed: 87-100mph
- Status: Needs an Annual
This aircraft was used as an observation and liason supporting ground troops in WWII.

Piaggio P.136 Royal Gull
- Built: 1950
- Length: 36 feet
- Wingspan: 44 feet
- Engine: 2 PE Avco Lycoming GSO-480
- Max Speed: 208mph
- Status: Needs restoration - both engines need overhauling & airframe needs refinishing.
Built in Italy, this amphibian was primarily used for air/sea rescue during the Korean War.
This aiplane is on eof only a few left in the U.S.A.
American Triplane
"American Flea"
- Built: 1930's
- Length: 13 feet
- Wingspan: 19 feet 10 inches
- Max Speed: 95mph
- Status: Hanging in the Hangar never to fly again.
Designed, built, and marketed in Fort Worth by Lillian Holden in 1930's.
A home built triplane with an unprecedented safety record.
Beech 18
"Twin Beech"

- Max Speed: 223mph
- Status: Flying
Manufactured by Beech as a utility/trainer plane during WWII.
Beech JRB-618
"Twin Beech"

- Status: Flying

Daphne
- Built: 1980's

This homebuilt was designed by Tim Yanc. It was honored as "Best in Class" at
the Annual Experimental Aircraft Association's annual Fly-In convention "AirVenture" in Oshkosh, Wisconsin
PT 17 Stearman
"Kadet"

This two seat primary trainer for the military in the 30's was the first plane for
many kadets.
Aeronca Chief
- Built: 1940's
- Length: 20 feet 10 inches
- Wingspan: 36 feet
- Max Speed: 120mph
- Status: Needs an Annual Inspection
Aeronca was producing nearly 50 Chiefs per day before ceasing
production in 1951.
Stinson L-5
"Sentinel"
- Built: 1940's

- Wingspan: 34 feet
- Max Speed: 130mph
- Status: Hanging in the hangar never to fly again.
Another support liason aircraft during WWII.
Lockheed T-33A
"Shooting Star"

- Status: Needing restoration!
The T-33 was used by over 20 countries from everything to combat to target towing.
B-25 "Pacific Prowler"
- Built: 1944
- Length: 53 feet
- Wingspan: 67 feet
- Max Speed: 334mph
- Status: Flying
Jim Terry, retired USAF, operates this Bomber.
This J model has 2 R-2600 engines and was quite fast for her time. You can see her at one of your favorite Air Shows in 2006.

L-450 F

- Status: On trailer in hangar!
This is essentially a Schweitzer sailplane with a 450 hp turboprop engine (PT6A-34).
Designed for either a pilot or remotely piloted, this vehicle was used as a
Surveillance - Photo platform. E-Systems used it as a test bed and envisioned
it as a radio relay station.
